Beer Me Takes It All In Icebusters League On the Back of Mighty
Dusty Nelson! April
26, 2008 - Team Beer Me literally chewed up their
competition in the Glacier Icebusters League, taking
out the competition by over 300 pins in final playoff action. Dusty
Nelson, who had never had a 200 game before, had what can only
be called a magical night as he lead his team to victory!
Nelson, who
bowls with his wife, Shelby, not only caught the "gold
ring" for his first deuce, a 201, but he never stopped
striking! Coming back with games of 212 and 200, Dusty
also shot his first 600 series - a 613 effort that caught
everybody off-guard - only his better-half knowing that he had it
in him! Not bad for a spectacular round of FIRSTS!
The Final
Standings for the Top Four:
Team Beer Me -
5035
Team Automotive NW - 4718
Team Moose Zoo - 4696
Team Well, Come on In - 4531
Congratulations
Dusty Nelson and Team Beer Me! |
Dave
Yocom Impresses His Wife! April
19, 2008 - Dave Yocom, bowling in the Saturday
Icebusters' League, had just picked up his brand new PBA
Shark (shamelessly plugging the Pro Shop here) at Glacier
Lanes! With a total of 8 practice balls under his belt, Dave,
bowling with his lovely bride, Jen, started knocking the
wood down and never stopped until it was time to go home as he
smashed the sticks for a 245-244-266 - 755 series!
Now, all Jen has
to do is somehow gently remind him that gloating in the living room
is a "no-no"!
Fantastic
Shooting, Dave! |
Becky
Underwood Shoots 2-Deuces! April
20, 2008 - Becky Underwood shooting in the Sunday
Icebreakers' League had a night that both she and her hubbie, Tony,
will remember for a long time - she'll make sure that he doesn't
forget!
Becky,
averaging around 150 for the season, shot two nice 200 games - her
first and second deuces of the season. While Tony looked on
proudly, Underwood belted out a 202-155-209 set with
a final tally of 566. The right-hander averaging almost 190
for the evening!
Awesome
Bowling, Becky! |
Massive
Team Game In Redhook - Iceberg Game April
10, 2008 - It will go down as one of the most memorable events
in the annals of Glacier Lanes! In the Redhook-Iceberg
League, bowling for Jamco Americans, not only did all 5
bowlers hit for big 200 or better games, but 3 of them absolutely
shot lights out!
Will
"Bulldog" Simmons led off for the team and made it
all the way into the 12 ball before a wiggling 10-pin thwarted his
attempt at his first 300 game of the season as he finished with a
stellar 299! Frank Dorsett's attempt was almost as
close as he kept pace with Simmons for the first 10 frames
before another 10-pin throttled him, as he ended with a 289.
In the third position, Mike Hammontree's shot at a
perrfecto ended early, but he still finished with a 279!
David "Kegger" Marcoll settled for a 204
as did Taffy...er, Tuffy "Franchise" Miller
who almost his his average with his 204.
But, the story doesn't
end there...Mike Hammontree continued to absolutely cream
the wood as he added games of 266 and 246 for a
humongous effort of 791 - a 4-pin in the 11th frame costing
him his 800 series. For

Don
Bullock Has Top Honors! April
4, 2008 - Don Bullock, one of the premier southpaws at Glacier
Lanes, didn't just tear up the lanes, he literally set
them aflame! Bullock, a dependable 210+ average shooter,
started off his night in the Friday Mixed Masters League
with a withering string of strikes and if it weren't for a couple
stubborn sticks, he would have had his 5th perfect game...but,
that had to wait as he finished with a beautiful 277!
Don's second
game was another lesson in consistency as he ripped 8 more strikes
for a 246! Now, going into the final game with a 523
total for the two games, Bullock showed no signs of getting
the jitters, his ball nailing the 1-2 pocket with an unerring
shot. Finally, after starting off the game with 9 in-a-row, he had
put himself, once again, at the opportunity to catch another
perfecto. So many times in the past - especially the last 4 years,
Don has come, oh so close, only to be stared down by a
single, dastardly and stubbornly standing pin. But, on this night,
everything just seemed so entirely different.
Quickly pummeling the
wood for strikes in the 10th and 11th frames, Bullock
studied the pins one last time and smoothly let his ball fly,
watching it as it curved in from the left-hand side of the lanes.
With every bowler on every lane watching, the sound of the
clanging of the pins going into the pit was heard throughout the
house, but the howl from those same spectators and bowlers alike
were almost as loud as two pins were left on the deck...one
wiggling, but standing. Then, literally in slow motion, as the Don
and the crowd looked on, the fallen pin slowly rolled towards
the the standing 7-pin and tapped it, the kinetic energy just
enough to push it over as the throng behind started a long and
rising, "ooooOOOOHHHHH"!
Bullock had
done it - his 5th Perfect Game AND a HUGE series total of 823
as he took the top spot on Glacier's Wall of Fame!
Incredible,
Don! It's an Understatement when we say, "Exciting
Stuff"! |
Tom
Lewis On Wall of Fame! March
27, 2008 - The man known as Tom "Animal" Lewis,
has added his name to Glacier's Wall of Fame as he put up
the Redhook Iceberg League's 5th Perfect game! Lewis,
a right-hander, whose tales of bowling on the Abraham Lincoln
carrier can keep anybody spellbound for at least 3 or 4 minutes,
shot his 2nd Perfecto of his career - the other while
stationed in Japan 11 years ago. Tom, whose set of 218-300-220
and total of 738 was more than enough to give him high
honors in the league that night!
Tom, 35 years
belies his experience, is a chief petty officer and with the navy
for 15 years. Carrying a 210+ average into the night's
festivities, there wasn't a doubt of the final outcome, his ball
catastrophically harassing the pins every frame!
Congratulations,
Tom!

Scott
Reed Shoots First "6"! March
8, 2008 - Scott Reed, shooting in the Saturday
Icebusters League, has been getting closer and closer to the
second goal of every bowler - shooting his first 600. On Saturday,
March 8, it happened!
Scott, a 170+
average bowler, started out with a nice 194 his first game
and then, never looked back. The big right-hander proceeded to
knock over the sticks with an unerring consistency as he belted
out a 223 his second game!
Knowing that he was
within reach of elusive target, Reed only needed to shoot a
181, but he continued to rip up the lanes and finished with a 206
for his FIRST ever 600 series in league play - 623!
Superb
bowling, Scott! |
A
New Ball - Big Scores! March
8, 2008 - Jamie Cullum, also bowling inthe Saturday
Icebusters League had two more than successful weeks in a row!
Jamie had just purchased a new Roto Grip Saturn four
weeks ago from the Glacier Lanes Pro Shop and
has bowled over his average since day 1 - his scores increasing
each and every week!
On this Saturday,
Jamie, a 157 averaged right-hander, creamed the wood for
scores of 200-243-177 for a stellar 620 series.
Then the next
Saturday, Cullum bested that effort with a big set of 199-241-217
for a huge 657 series!
There doesn't seem to
be any let up in sight and the way that Jamie is bowling,
he's got a lot higher scores in mind!
Now
for the big "7", Jamie! |

It's Over! The Lady That's
Going On A Diet Has Sung!
April 24, 2007 - It's
official and it's finally over: Team Redhook took the crown in
the Redhook Iceberg League and even opened the champagne early
as the walloped their foes going away, burying them in a tidal wave of
strikes, spares, and "stink-eye" looks! Going into the final
round any of the 3 other teams that were looking up at Team Redhook
knew that they had to climb a most precipitous mountain as their
astounding lead from the first round put them in reach of that top
spot!
But it was all-but over
within 45 minutes - Team Redhook, behind the bowling of Terry
"Sludge" Heining (266), Mark "The Butcher" Tuttle
(219), and Steve "Captain Jack" Miller (224),
iced the contest with a team handicap game of 1160 and never
looked back, breaking open the bubbly early with over a 500-pin lead!
Cruising the last 2 games, Redhook celebrated in style, the
team splitting $4000 plus point money - each man taking home
almost $1000!
In the Second Division,
Team All Tech Systems came from WAY back to take the top spot, Tim
"Bond" Bristol leading his team with a 212-201-257 -
670 set. Those scores along with the brilliant shooting of Randy
"Bull" Measor (233-234 - 639) and Bob
"Duck" Bristol (217-243 - 643) was more than enough to
squeak by Team Jamco Americans and Team Superbad (who
were actually pretty good this season!).
